The administration and staff would like to welcome your student to Ionta Elementary/Delahunty Middle School for the Fall of 2021. As you know, in our schools each student is assigned a Chromebook to use for their daily schoolwork. Over the past several school years the usage of the Chromebooks has expanded and students are now able to bring them home to complete class assignments and projects. With this expanded use of Chromebooks comes the increased risk of damage or failure. The cost of replacing a damaged screen ($125), a damaged keyboard ($25) or a failed system board outside of the warranty ($190) can be costly.
To help offset the cost of these repairs, we are requiring parents and guardians to purchase insurance for these devices. The cost of this insurance is $25 per year. If your student is enrolled in the Free or Reduced lunch program, their costs will be $5 or $10, respectively. There is no deductible for the insurance when a claim is filed and the coverage includes:
- Accidental Damage including Cracked Screens
- Liquid Submersion or Spill
- Fire/Flood Damage
- Natural Disasters
- Power Surge Due to Lightning
- Mechanical Failure
- Manufacturer Defect
Please note that coverage does not include lost Chromebooks or chargers, nor does it cover intentional damage, such as when a student removes a key from their own Chromebook’s keyboard. If you have a MySchoolBucks account, for depositing funds for use in the cafeteria, you may have received an email with an invoice for the amount owed. We apologize as that email was not to go out until Monday July 26th, but due to a technical error, it went out on Tuesday, July 20th. Please note that payments can be made by either paying the Invoice through MySchoolBucks (there is a processing fee of $3.95) or you may bring in a check, payable to Hermitage School District, to the DMS Main Office from August 16th - August 30th.
