Silver Cords

What is Silver Cords?

It is a volunteer program that is open to Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors of Hickory High School.  The purpose of Silver Cords is to instill within students the importance of community service, and encourage students to be accountable for investing in their own education and in the community on a regular basis during their school years.

Our Goals:

  • To enhance self-confidence
  • Increase citizenship
  • Give students the opportunity to work with people in their community
  • Recognize students for their commitment to the community

How do I Qualify to Wear “Silver Cords” at graduation?

You must reach 150 hours of service from four different approved locations by May of your senior year.

How Can I Join?

The guidance office or Ms. Passerotti (room 207) has everything you need to get started.
